Questions often asked by Coach D in her talks and speeches. Her message of mental hygiene for all challenges the way we think about conventional self-care and mental health. In 2014, personal experiences challenged Coach D mentally and physically forcing her to reevaluate herself and systems. Since, she has been on a mission to change the way mental health is approached. She began her career in youth development and then sports-based youth development as a basketball coach believing that her calling was to "help the youth". Yet, like so many individuals she eventually was burnt out. This had a big impact on Coach D's next move and career moving forward. Her message evolved from one of positivity through sports training to one of resiliency and restoration through breathing. Known for her loud and jovial persona, described by most as someone who "speaks truth to power," Coach D strives to be an example of her message.

"Mental Health is the state of our ability to function and carry out daily tasks. It also is the confusion from wanting to perform better but being unaware of the dysfunction in the mind that affects you silently." Coach D speaks about how to detect this dysfunction due to lack of self-awareness and how to repair it with mental hygiene. Coach D has spoken at Jr. NBA, NBA, NYC Dept. Of Education and a host of other conferences, community, sporting, and school events to share her expertise on mental hygiene for performance and wellbeing, her curriculum TAP and the 533 Meditation.
